Worn by the Scots on their kilts for a long time, tartan (plaids) may seem a little old-fashioned. However, if you know how to wear it, it can give your outfits a special touch. Tartan, a reference to our Scottish neighbors
Just a nod, because there’s no question of wearing a kilt. The idea, as Dries van Noten suggests it, is to combine a checked piece (oversize pants or a pullover) with a more discreet item to not go over the top. True to its usual exuberance, Versace offers tartan in a contemporary and flashy version, enough to compose a pop or even punk style. Finally, AMI presents a melted and sober pattern on a large and light coat for the less adventurous, perfect for a casual look without falling into excess. As you see, in little touches or in large items, tartan will breathe new life to an ordinary outfit, even if at first it may seem difficult to wear.
Lumberjack mode
Timeless, the lumberjack shirt (also known as the “traditional lumberjack”) will again be a basic this fall/winter. Small or big checks, neutral or flashier colours, there will be something for everyone. All while keeping a simple look, easy to wear on daily life, but also in the evening, with a casual style: a must-have! This is still a powerful print. It is therefore advised to match it with neutral piece of clothing: avoid any association with others powerful patterns not to look too charged. However, nothing prevents you from rewriting the traditional codes to add your personal touch!
